Our community began in 1977 when two nuns and I arrived from the
Abbey of Regina Laudis, Bethlehem, CT,
to establish a Benedictine Monastery on 300 acres of donated land on Shaw Island. Through the years our numbers have grown and have served the Lord at Our Lady of the Rock.
We would like to hear from you if you are considering a contemplative life. We envision a future where we carry on the traditions established over the last 37 years at Our Lady of the Rock. We want to ensure that your children and all future generations will be able to find peace and stability at our monastery. We see the continuation of St. Benedict’s call to ORA ET LABORA as our service to the world.
As with most Benedictine monasteries, Our Lady of the Rock does not receive financial support from the Catholic Church. We rely completely upon ourselves and the generosity of friends and guests to maintain the monastery and continue its traditions. We appreciate your prayers and any financial donation you are able to make.
